Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Did You Have Turkey Ice Cream?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Did you all have food coma yesterday? Well.. I sure did. Could not help but stuffing my face with turkeys, brussel sprouts and everything yummy. Unfortunately, I did not have this turkey ice cream from Baskin Robbins cause I just knew about this yesterday! Ugh..

Well Baskin Robbins is offering ice cream Turkey Cake to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday this year. The cake is “glazed” with Caramel Praline Topping and is decorated with sugar cone legs, and can be customized with a guest’s favorite ice cream flavor. Hm.. I think cookies and cream flavor would go very well with the caramel praline topping! This cake can serve up to 16 people and retail for $32.99. Baskin Robbins also has mini turkey ice cream and offered it d in a family-friendly 4-pack for $12.99. Isn't it perfect? Now when can I have another excuse to gobble up this treat?

Halo halo! The word "halo halo" here is not a greeting anyway. It is a Tagalog word which means "mix". How fitting! Because just look at the picture of the dessert above! Halo halo is combination of shaved ice, coconut milk, handful of sweet fruits and beans, leche flan, caramelized plantains and ube (or purple yam ice cream) all in one big dessert bowl! How amazing right? This halo halo is a famous dessert at one of the most established Filipino's restaurant in East Village, Jeepney. Good thing about Halo Halo is that they are light and sweet. New from Umami Burger: Donut Ice Cream Sandwich

Cr: foodbeast.com
Oh God! My list of "Things-to-eat in New York" is getting longer and longer. Umami Burger, which just opened few months ago in New York, just unveiled their new dessert item which is.. "Donut Ice Cream Sandwich". Mean.. mean.. mean.. This is a result of collaboration between L.A. Creamery Ice Cream and Stan’s Donuts in Southern California.

There are 3 flavors you can try:
  1. Peanut Butter and Jelly Ice Cream with a Jelly Doughnut. This is peanut butter and jelly ice cream sandwiched between a jelly donut. Hm.. interesting choice of flavor right?
  2. Chocolate Ganache Ice Cream with Chocolate Peanut Butter Donuts.
  3. Cinnamon Toast Ice Cream with a Cinnamon Roll and Chocolate Chips. Not a donut but.. who can resist cinnamon roll??
You can get the donut for $8 in New York and for $6 in SoCal. Yes, the donut is more expensive in New York *sigh* but who could blame them?

New Ice Cream Concept: Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich

Who loves macaron? Who loves ice cream? What happens if those two forces are combined? Macaron Ice Cream sandwich is the answer! Yes, this is the newest concept of ice cream in New York City.

In case, you don't know anything about macaron.. Macaron is sweet meringue-based confection that are sandwiched together with fillings. The outer shell is a little crispy but very moist and easy to melt inside the mouth. Meanwhile, the filling can be anything from strawberry jams, caramel or ganache. Sounds so yummy right?

This is the reason why macaron is very popular in Paris and has been gaining good reputation all over the world. There are growing number of stores that sell macaron in New York but Francois Payard Patisserie is taking it to the next level and create this macaron ice cream sandwich. So instead of putting fillings between the macarons, he subtitute it with ice cream! How yummy is that!

There are 4 flavors of macaron ice cream sandwich there:
1. Strawberry Shortcake
2. Chocolate Chocolate
3. Pistachio Raspberry
4. Coconut Mango
You can get them for $5 each! Grab one soon and let me know what you think!

Spaghetti Ice Cream, The New Breed of Ice Cream

What is it?
No it is not your usual spaghetti marinara. But it is spaghetti ice cream! Yes I am not kidding. It is an ice cream that is made to look like spaghetti. Amazing right? It was first invented in Germany in the 1960s and got popular worldwide.

How to make it?
You would need steady hands and patience to make this spaghetti ice cream. I am sure it is not going to be esy but in case you want to try, you can make it by running your ice cream through a strainer or a potato ricer to get the desired texture. Once you get the spaghetti, you can top it off with various toppings like strawberry sauce! Nom nom nom. If you want to know more, read this article by Andrew Zimmer.

Where to get it?
If you are too lazy to make it yourself, you can find this spaghetti ice cream at Dolce Gelatteria in West Village, New York,
